New Logo

To coincide with the release of the new range of accounting software for Windows, we have embarked on  freshening our image and have adapted a new logo. This logo replaces the "aged little man" that has become synonymous with Orion Software over the past 20 years. The name "Orion Software" will however remain the same, as will the New Dimension Accounting Series product logo.Top of page

Change in date formats

The date format on system and final account reports has been changed to accommodate arithmetic calculations using dates, similar to a typical spreadsheet application. The existing system reports will be modified by ourselves and will be included in the next web update. Please note that if you have any custom reports using date fields, please inform us and we will gladly modify your report.
This added feature enables function and transaction dates and times to be reported on and used in arithmetic calculations. Top of page

New system reports

New system reports include the following:

  • GL Accounts Audit Trail w Stamps - GL Audit trail with transactional user, date and time stamps.

  • Trial Balance - Main GL Accounts - Trial Balance showing GL Accounts with all respective departments and sub departments as a cumulative figure.Top of page

Tax Types and GL Allocations

In the previous Newsletter mention was made about the ability to post GL Journals to the tax type control accounts, primarily for the purposes of posting sales tax adjustments. These journals would then be displayed on the View | Sales Taxes form in the adjustments column. To make use of this function, ensure that each Tax Type is allocated to it's own GL account. The next web update will enforce unique GL Accounts to each Tax Type. Should your data have a single GL Account controlling multiple Tax Types, then additional GL Accounts will be added by the system to enable the data upgrade. You will then be able to rename these added GL Accounts to comply with your GL Account format. Remember to include the correct Report Category in these accounts for reporting purposes.Top of page
